TANZANITE JEWELLERY

The extremely rare and beautiful Tanzanite is only found in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. According to legend, the first Tanzanite aficionados were nomadic Maasai herdsmen. Apparently, they spotted beautiful blue Tanzanite crystals which had been transformed from their typical bronze greyish brown by a grass fire. This story alludes to how Tanzanite’s colours actually blossom with heat. Manuel D’Souza staked the first official claim, legendary Scottish geologist Campbell Bridges was the first person to bring Tanzanite to the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) for identification, and Tiffany & Co. coined and launched the brand name ‘Tanzanite’. From a mineralogical standpoint, Tanzanite begins as clear Zoisite. Its wonderful and intense colours depend on the foreign mineral elements of chrome and vanadium present in the crystals. Tanzanite is a trichroic gemstone, which means each Tanzanite crystal has three colours: blue, purplish-red, and greenish-yellow-brown. The intensity of the colour changes when it is viewed from different angles. While heating minimizes Tanzanite’s bronze hues and maximizes the blues, violets, and purples, the quality is dependent on the natural characteristics of each crystal.   Juwelo AAA Tanzanite gold earrings   Tanzanite is one of the world’s best-selling gemstones because of their unique hue and rarity. Tanzanite Engagement Rings in Platinum

It is so wonderful to live in a time where you can love who you want and marry them. Well in more and more cases and places, at least! Fashion seems to not only follow but sometimes lead  social trends. Let's say reflect! The fancy and colour gemstone engagement ring trend is part of this flow. What is your birthstone? If you are born in December it would be Turquoise, Zircon and Tanzanite. Ladies and gents are choosing Tanzanite and other stunning and colourful stones as their engagement ring focus, according to some reports, even going so far as choosing one's birthstone as the centre stone. A Tanzanite ring set in the white heat of platinum is quite a stunner of a ring and certainly a wonderful possibility for your engagement ring.

Tanzanite Value

This is an interesting topic because Tanzanite is actually rarer than Diamond. The Diamond prices have been set and standardized, making them more expensive than some of their rarer gemological brethren. Always take good care of your Tanzanite jewels as it is a more fragile stone, but with good care can last as keepsakes in your collection. Tanzanite’s rarest and most valuable colour is typically a strong ‘Sapphire’ quality blue. Tanzanite with more blue than purple or violet is faceted along the width, not length, of the crystal to accentuate the purity of the blue colour.  This is important, as high-transparency and colour are the signature characteristics of high-quality Tanzanite.
